Our Story

Henry and Eve Ramaker, newlyweds, immigrated from the Netherlands to Canada in 1958. After a year in Montreal, they settled in St. Catharines, where Henry began his retail career at Dominion Grocery Store. He worked his way up to store manager, ultimately deciding to pursue his dream of entrepreneurship.

In 1975, the Dutch store on Vine Street became available for sale, and Henry decided to take the leap. With his family's enthusiastic support, Ramaker's Imports was born in October of that year. Henry's dedication to customer service and his family's involvement have been key to the store's success. Over the years, the business has undergone changes, including a move to its current location on Ontario Street in 1985.

Today, the store remains a family-owned and operated enterprise, with Linde (their daughter) and husband Ernie at the helm and Henry Jr. and his partner Lisa contributing their expertise. We look forward to continuing to serve our customers with the same passion and dedication as our father instilled in us.
